The San Mateo office is operated by Huub Schuurmans and Mariska Henneberque as part of the Netherlands Science Attache network. This network has been operated since 1952 by the Dutch Ministry of Economic Affairs to provide support to businesses and government in their quest for technical and scientific information. Offices for Science and Technology are also located in Washington, Tokyo, Bonn, Paris, Singapore and Rome. In 1999 Erik Hoeksema has joint us for a study on datamining technology and implementation. In the first quarter of 2000 Remco Nijland carried out a study on 'Internet and Education'.
Lars de Wit has been conducting research for an article on 'Streaming Internet Media'.

The main activities of a science attache consist of:

• establishing contacts and supplying personal supervisory help.
